The service is designed to help agencies work together and provide a more joined-up and consistent experience, regardless of which State agency was responsible for a survivor’s care

It is part of the Government's suite of changes in response to recommendations made by the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care.

Contact details

The State Redress Service does not change which agency is responsible for assessing and responding to claims. Agencies remain responsible for claims assessment, making decisions and providing redress.

Information for survivors with existing claims

Survivors with existing claim do not need to submit a new claim through the State Redress Service. The agency managing their existing claim will be able to continue doing so.
